Our RAKU Line

Of Korean origin, raku was further developed in Japan from the 16th century onwards.  Closely linked with the Tea Ceremony it was honoured by monks, masters of the Tea Ceremony and ceramicists alike.  “Raku” in Japanese signifies comfort, joy and bliss.

The process consists of removing the glazed pieces from the kiln while glowing hot,  between 1000° and 750°C, before being smoked and cooled rapidly.
